Fabrics & Materials

We use Dimension Polyant laminated fabrics for the main panels of all our products.

For custom frame bags you can choose between 2 weights for the side panels, both have been put through the wringer so it's your call on how important weight is:

  • VX 21: A 200 denier fabric laminated in a five ply sandwich with a dacron “X-Pac” grid for tear resistance and structural stability, 200 psi waterproof. This is a high tech, light weight fabric an excellent option for frame bags geared towards light weight.
  • VX 42: Standard fabric for Frame bags - A step up from the VX 21 in abrasion resistance and weight.  400 denier cordura outer face laminated like the VX 21  - Waterproof. A few ounces heavier per bag than ones made with VX 21, however it's more abrasion and tear resistant if you like to beat your gear senceless.

Spectra Powergrid:

For custom frame bags only - 500 denier cordura, woven with a spectra fiber grid and finished with a DWR coating. This material is bomber, with excellent strength and abrasion resistance. Being coated, it lacks the water resistance that the Dimension Polyant fabrics give, however it has a unique look and is really tough.

1680 denier ballistics nylon is used with padding along tube sections where the most wear is seen.

After a few years and thousands of miles, a modern solution was sought to protect the bottom sections of frame bags from abrasion against the tubes and bottle mounts. Superfabric finishes a cordura fabric with flexible armor plates giving this material unsurpassed abrasion resistance. This is an upgrade option for mountain bike and touring frame bags that are expected to receive an obscene amount of long term abuse, mud and grit.

YKK Zippers:

#8 zips are used in frame bags in both the standard and water resistant types.
#5 zippers are used in lighter duty areas, side pockets.
